One of the stars of the BBC TV series Cuffs is to appear in court today charged with racially aggravated harassment and two counts of threatening behaviour.
Ashley Walters, who plays PC Ryan Draper, in the cop drama based in Brighton, is due in the dock at Blackfriars Crown Court, in London.
The rapper – a former member of So Solid Crew – is alleged to have threatened a receptionist and manager at the Hilton hotel in Upper Street, London, in May.
The 33-year-old actor, who has previously appeared in the BBC children’s series Grange Hill and the Channel 4 drama Top Boy, was bailed by Highbury Corner magistrates last month.
Walters, of Cloudesley Street, in Islington, London, denies the charges, including a claim that he called the hotel receptionist a white bitch.
He is scheduled to appear before Judge Peter Clarke but is unlikely to be tried by a jury before May next year.
Nice to see the law works both ways
