A woman was attacked in a car parked outside a Saltdean pub, according to police, who have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Sussex Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault on a woman in her early twenties who was attacked in Saltdean on Sunday 6 March.

“The victim was sat in the passenger seat of a white BMW 1 series parked in Longridge Avenue when the assault took place at 6pm.”

PC James Breeds said: “I am appealing for any witnesses to this alarming report of an assault where the victim has been left feeling incredibly shaken by what has happened.

“The location of the offence is opposite the busy Spanish Lady public house and I am sure that there were witnesses to what went on that evening.”

A 23-year-old man from Peacehaven has been arrested on suspicion of affray. He was questioned and has been bailed.

Anyone who saw the incident is asked to call Sussex Police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
