Masked man robs Moulsecoomb convenience store

Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery in Morris Convenience store, Widdicombe Way, Brighton.
Morris Convenience Store
A man wearing a mask, gloves and white hoodie walked into the shop at around 8.50pm whilst two workers were cashing up behind the till.

The suspect, who is black, about 6′ and of muscular build put a carrier bag on the counter and threatened the staff members with a pair of plyers.

The panic alarm was raised and the suspect ran out empty-handed.

Detective Sergeant James Meanwell said: “Fortunately nobody was injured and the suspect left without taking anything.

“If you saw something suspicious in the area please email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting reference 1368 of 15/03.”

I would like to inform you that Morris Newsagents at 36 Widdicombe Way is NOT in Moulsecoomb it is in Higher Bevendean. Inside the news agents is Higher Bevendean Post Office. Higher Bevendean was built as a private estate in 1930 and 86 years later, people still get misinformed.
The six roads in Higher Bevendean are: Widdicombe Way, Bevendean Crescent, Nyetimber Hill, Medmerry Hill, Beech Grove and Hillside Way. The nearby pub was called the Bevendean Hotel (now called the Bevy) The post Office has always been Higher Bevendean Post Office and was originally at No 38 Widdicombe Way, until the manager was caught witholding pensioners Pension books in the 1980’s and it was closed down. So please, if you are going to report a news story about these six roads in future, get the area correct.
My aunt was one of the first people to live in Higher Bevendean when the houses were new in 1930.
Sad to think that this private residential area has to be tarred with this sort of behaviour now, where one doesn’t feel safe going to a corner shop now.
