Albion are losing at Hillsborough, a stadium where they have never won a match, in this vital play-off encounter.

It has been an action-packed but fairly woeful half for the Seagulls. Tomer Hemed and Connor Goldson have both gone off injured, replaced by James Wilson and Liam Rosenior.

Hemed hit the post from a header early on, evoking memories of Gordon Greer’s effort rattling the bar at Selhurst Park in the 2013 play-off match against Crystal Palace.

Albion’s most fortunate moment was the disallowed goal by Fernando Forestieri from a long punt upfield by Kieran Westwood, the Wednesday keeper. Referee Andre Marriner initially gave the goal but changed his mind after consulting his assistant.

Wednesday took the lead on the stroke of half time. Ross Wallace fired through a crowd of players and low to Stockdale’s right.

Albion will do well to come away with a draw now.
