There is a small chance Brighton and Hove will be hit by heavy thunderstorms and hail tomorrow – but if they do come, the impact could be severe.
The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning over a large part of southern England, including Brighton and Hove, from 1pm to 9pm tomorrow.
And with a risk of up to 50mm of rain falling in a few hours, it says there is a risk of localised flooding.
The warning says: “Heavy, thundery showers will turn locally torrential with the risk of hail on Tuesday afternoon and evening across parts of England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Whilst most places will miss the worst, please be aware of the risk of localised flooding.
“Warm, moist air from the continent will be made more unstable by a system coming over it from the Atlantic, bringing the risk of 20 mm or more in an hour and 50 mm in a few hours.”
