Brighton and Hove Albion will host Italian side Lazio in the Seagulls’ final pre-season friendly which will take place at the Amex Stadium on Sunday 31 July with a 3pm kick-off.

Albion announced the fixture this morning (Tuesday 28 June) and said that tickets for the match will go on sale online at 2pm today and by phone from 9am tomorrow.

Lazio finished eighth in Serie A last season. Three of the club’s players are in the Italian squad at the European Championships – goalkeeper Federico Marchetti and midfielders Antonio Candreva and Marco Parolo.

Former players include Paul Gascoigne and Lazio’s most successful spell came during four years under Sven-Göran Eriksson immediately before he became England manager.

The friendly follows matches against Villareal and Sevilla in recent years.

A week after Albion face Lazio, the Championship season will start with the visit to Derby County on Saturday 6 August.
