Two men have been arrested on suspicion of carrying out armed robberies at two different branches of Ladbrokes bookmakers in Brighton.
Sussex Police said: “The first happened on Sunday (7 August) at the Ladbrokes branch in The Broadway, Whitehawk, at 9.15pm.
“Two men went in and demanded cash from the staff. One of them was armed with a black object described as a handgun. They escaped with £2,800 from the safe and the tills. No one was hurt.
“Then on Tuesday (9 August) two men went to the Ladbrokes in St George’s Road, Kemp Town, at 7.20pm. One was armed with a black object again described as a handgun and the other had a knife. They demanded cash from the cashier and made off with more than £1,000 cash.
“A 27-year-old man from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of two counts of robbery and a 32-year-old man from Hove was detained on suspicion of two counts of robbery and possession of a firearm without a certificate. They are currently in custody.”
