Crash closes A23 on the edge of Brighton just before rush hour

Police are appealing for witnesses to a car crash in the Southwick tunnel to come forward.

Sussex Police urged anyone who saw the TVR sports car when it crashed or shortly before the crash to contact officers.

The force said: “Did you see a sports car crash on the A27 at the Southwick Tunnel?

“Police are seeking witnesses to a single-vehicle crash on the A27 at Shoreham, close to the eastern exit of the Southwick Tunnel, which happened on Wednesday (30 November) at around 3.50pm.

“A TVR sports car travelling east collided with a barrier, sustaining substantial damage and blocking the eastbound lanes.

“The driver was trapped in the wreckage and had to be freed by firefighters. He was not thought to have been seriously hurt.

“The road was blocked for more than two hours while emergency services were on scene, causing long tailbacks of traffic.

“Anyone who saw what happened or noticed the TVR being driven prior to the crash is asked to email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, quoting serial 928 of 30/11.”
