Norwich City 2 Brighton & Hove Albion 0
The Seagulls lost for the first time in six matches after two bizarre goals left them trailing before half time.
Former Albion target Alex Pritchard twice saw shots rebound off the woodwork, hit Albion keeper David Stockdale and rebound into the net.
The goals occurred in the 18th and 39th minutes. The first hit Stockdale on the back after Pritchard’s shot hit the crossbar.
The second was almost indentical, with the ball rebounding off the post and in via Stockdale.
One of the most amusing events of the night was the reaction that Stockdale received from the Canaries fans at the start of the second half.
It was more about damage limitation for Albion as Norwich held on for a win which goes some way towards avenging their 5-0 thrashing at the Amex last October. The three points lifts them three places to eighth place in the league. They can’t make the play-offs.
Albion can still win the Football League Championship at home to Bristol City next Saturday (29 April) unless Newcastle drop points when they host Preston North End on Monday (24 April).
