Brighton and Hove’s biggest business support programme is returning with another series of workshops for new and growing firms.
The business support programme is called Ride the Wave and consists of a series of affordable events running from this month until November with funding from Brighton and Hove City Council.
The programme, now in its sixth year, has been designed by Brighton and Hove Chamber of Commerce which is also responsible for delivering the 11 workshops and arranging the practical supporting help.
The Chamber said: “The programme includes practical interactive workshops and peer support as well as offering attendees a mentoring session with a choice of business experts.
“This programme will include 11 workshops and offer places for 250 businesses. There will be a series of workshops for people wanting to start a business and for those in their first year or two of trading – and for existing businesses wanting to overcome the barriers to growth.
“There will be individual workshop events providing tailored help and support with tendering and winning contracts, how to pitch and present your businesses and how to market your social enterprise.”
Chamber of Commerce director Sarah Springford said: “We are confident that there is something for everyone within this Ride the Wave series.
“Last year we had a 100 per cent satisfaction rate and we know that this series will be just as well received and valuable.
“The programme is designed to be inclusive, friendly, exciting and above all useful.”
The aim of the programme is to provide core skills training for businesses and to connect them with a network of support to help them to grow and prosper.
Councillor Alan Robins, chairman of the council’s Economic Development and Culture Committee, said: “Ride the Wave workshops offer business support and advice for as little as £10 a session and since launching in 2011 have helped hundreds of entrepreneurs bring their business ideas to life.
“The city is well known and celebrated for its large number of independent small businesses and the continuation of the Ride the Wave programme means even more people who are contributing to our local economy will have the opportunity to benefit from a dedicated pool of expertise.”
