Hundreds turn out for Brighton and Hove Business Awards

BAHBAs winners 2017

Hundreds of people turned out for the 12th annual Brighton and Hove Business Awards at Stanmer House last night (Thursday 14 September).

The organisers said: “The sell-out event was attended by over 300 guests from around 100 different Brighton businesses and included the MPs for Hove and Brighton Pavilion, as well as the city mayor Councillor Mo Marsh and chair of the Tourism, Development and Culture Committee Alan Robins.

“Three companies from the city took home a brace of gongs – Mooncup Ltd was awarded the Best Place to Work and the Green Business Award while the newly refurbished Saltdean Lido won the award for Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism and the Best New Kids on the Block.

“Taking home the most sought after accolade of the Judges’ Award for Best Business of the Year, as well as the Professional Services Award, was HOP Consulting Ltd.

“Overseas healthcare professionals Work the World, which made the shortlist three times, was presented the Award for Business Beyond the City.

“Managing Director of the Year 2016 finalist Danielle Plowman, of Ellie Ellie, walked home with the title this year, with James Dempster of Cobb Digital named as One to Watch.

“Phil Green, director of MD Hub, presented the Outstanding Brightonian award to Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club which was collected by the club’s executive director and a previous winner himself, Martin Perry.”

Mr Green said: “Our winner tonight has taken Brighton beyond the UK and put us on the map of Europe.

“In fact, on (Sunday) 13 August we estimate that there were around 70 million people around the world who were chanting the name of Brighton.

“With an arena voted the best new stadium in the world in 2012, a world-class training facility, a multi-award-winning charitable arm, exceptional club and team management, the future looks bright for our Outstanding Brightonian.”

Award organisers and Brighton PR firm Midnight Communications said: “Sponsors included MD Hub, Brighton University, Red7, Healys, Churchill Square and NatWest who join City Cabs, Yelo Architects, Graves Jenkins, the Brighton and Hove Chamber of Commerce, Cardens, Martin Searle Solicitors and Robinson Low Francis.
