Brighton and Hove Albion have had a hatful of chances to go in front as they host Newcastle United at the Amex this afternoon (Sunday 24 September).

Tomer Hemed and Anthony Knockaert have had the best of these although Christian Gross on target shot into the ground, hit Knockaert in the six-yard box and bounced wide.

Soon after Knockaert was booked for a crude pull back on Ayoze Perez.

Perez also had a good chance for Newcastle but scooped it over.

The match was played in a superb atmosphere during the opening quarter.

But Albion will rue being unable to make the most of the number of chances they have had.

Even in the closing minutes of the half Tomer Hemed was denied by Newcastle goalkeeper Rob Elliot.
