Firefighters rescued two people from a burning first-floor flat in Brighton yesterday afternoon (Sunday 6 October).
The pair were had breathed in smoke and were given oxygen at the scene.
The fire broke out at lunchtime in Florence Road, Brighton.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “Fire crews were called to a fire on the first floor of a property in Florence Road, Brighton at 1.49pm today.
“Firefighters using breathing apparatus rescued two people from the building and administered oxygen.
“At its peak four appliances were in use and as of 3.10pm two appliance remain at the scene.”
Fire crews dealt with two other incidents in Brighton and Hove later yesterday.
Three fire engines were sent to the westbound side of the A27 where a vehicle had caught fire by the A23 turn-off shortly before 6pm.
The fire service said: “Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel jet to tackle the fire.
And just before 7.30pm a fire engine was sent to The Drive, in Hove, after fumes from cooking set off an alarm.
