A Brighton drug dealer has been spared prison after being caught with cocaine and cannabis.
Craig Anscombe, 32, of Netherfield Green, Woodingdean, appeared before Judge Stephen Mooney for sentence on Friday (18 March).
Anscombe was found with 1.4 grams of cocaine in Brighton in April 2020.
He also had 458 grams of cannabis resin in Sutherland Road, Brighton, on the same date.
When he was stopped, police found an offensive weapon, a retractable baton.
Judge Mooney sentenced Anscombe to 17 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, for the drugs offences.
He also ordered Anscombe to attend a thinking skills programme for 19 sessions.
There was no separate sentence for having an offensive weapon in a public place.
Another crook spared prison. What on earth are these judges playing at? Are they living on another planet from the rest of us? And what message is this giving out to other would be crooks?
As for “thinking skills”, is that some kind of joke? Thinking skills are in very short supply when it comes to judges themselves apparently.
