Police have released the former Hove MP Ivor Caplin under investigation after his arrest on suspicion of engaging in online sexual communications with a child 10 months ago.
The former defence minister was previously on bail, waiting to learn whether he would face any charges further to his arrest.
His arrest was mentioned during a court case last week when former newspaper editor Greg Hadfield, 69, was found not guilty of sending a pornographic tweet.
Hadfield’s defence was that he was highlighting the former MP’s public online pornographic activity as a journalist and asking why his party, Labour, had not acted previously on his behaviour.
Sussex Police said: “A 67-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of engaging in online sexual communications with a child on Saturday 11 January has been released under investigation following an application to extend his bail.”
All rather convenient. Are we being pushed under the Nick Brown carpet? And regarding those Ukrainian chaps Mr Starmer?

These cases can take anywhere from 6months upto 3 yrs to come to court, depending on the severity of the case and the risk to the general public. I helped to work on this Case along with many others who worked tirelessly to bring this man to justice and i have no explanation for how or why it has been handled as it has by the courts other than… Because it’s Ivor! A high profile figure in his day and a labour disgrace to this one. It’s a party that is riddled with deception and ridiculous double standards. Quite frankly, the whole lot of them turn my stomach with their smug faces and devious cackles and heckles in that House of Commons while the people they promised and swore an oath to protect suffer and wither into oblivion. They all need to learn what eradication of communism feels like first hand as they’re turfed, face first, out of the bloody building!
