King’s School head Sarah Price wrote to parents yesterday, saying: “I’m sorry to be writing to you with some incredibly sad news today.
“There was an adult death by suicide in the locality of the school this morning (not in the immediate vicinity of the school but close by) and gthe deceased is linked to the school community.
“Some students will be aware of this death and I therefore wanted you to know before the end of the school day in case your child wishes to speak to you this evening about it.
“School staff have been working with me today to ensure that students directly affected by the death have been well cared for and we will ensure that appropriate support is in place for them and those close to them in the days and weeks to come.
“If you have any concerns about how your child has been affected by this, please do not hesitate to contact us so that we can work with you to support them.
“Should you have concerns about yourself in the light of this information, please seek support from relevant services, eg, the Samaritans who operate a 24-hour helpline (116123).
“I would be grateful for your prayers for those directly affected by this tragic situation.”
