Police hunt Brighton woman to return her to prison

Police have returned a woman to prison after mking an appeal to the public for help finding her.

They wwre trying to find Gemma Stacey Jackson who has a long history of drug problems.

Sussex Police said: “We can confirm that Gemma Jackson, 43, from Brighton, who was wanted on recall for a licence breach has now been arrested.

“Thank you for sharing the appeal.”

A fortnight ago, police said: “We’re searching for Gemma Jackson, 43, who is wanted on recall to prison for breaching the terms of her licence.

“She is known to frequent the Brighton and Hove area.

“Anyone who sees her is asked not to approach her but to call 999 immediately, quoting crime reference 47260071080.”

Jackson lived in two Brighton properties that were ordered to close in 2017 because of links to drugs and violence – in May Road and Queen’s Park Road.

At May Road, Brighton, a man was hurt in a hammer attack and a shotgun was fired through the window of a flat.

In the same year, Jackson was fined for having cocaine.

And on Thursday 11 July 2019, she made off with Sergeant Vince Lam’s police radio after a tussle in Kemp Town.

At Brighton Magistrates’ Court the next day, she pleaded guilty to stealing the radio, which was recovered, and to resisting arrest.

The magistrates said that she had been aggressive and sentenced her to four weeks in prison, suspended for a year.

She has been jailed for other offences since.
