UPDATE BELOW – Trains were delayed by trespassers on the tracks between Hove and Brighton railway stations this evening (Wednesday 22 April).
Police closed Wilbury Villas, Hove, earlier and monitored the track from the bridge over the railway line there.
Southern said: “A trespass incident has been reported in the Hove area.
“When trespassing is reported, trains in the area slow down or stop for safety. Emergency services and Network Rail will respond to remove the person from the tracks.
“Trespassing on the railway is extremely dangerous. Trains run at all times and you may not see or hear them until it’s too late.
“Many areas also have a high-voltage third rail, steep drops and other hazards.
“It’s also illegal, with serious penalties for obstructing the railway.”
Due to trespassers on the railway between Hove and Brighton, services running to and from these stations may be delayed

UPDATE Southern said: “An earlier trespass incident between Hove and Brighton has been resolved allowing all lines to return to normal running.
“As service recovers, trains running between these stations may still be delayed by up to 15 minutes, cancelled or revised to terminate and start back from Hove.”
Southern added that disruption was expected until 9.30pm.
Tickets were being accepted on a number of Brighton and Hove Buses routes including the 1, 2, 3X and 7.
