A man suffered injuries to his face when he was attacked by a café in a Brighton park, Sussex Police said.

The force said: “We are appealing for witnesses and information after an assault in Preston Park, Brighton, on Thursday 30 July.

“It was reported that at around 1.30pm, near the Rotunda Café, a man and a woman were in the park when a verbal altercation took place between them and another man.

“During the altercation, the victim, a 49-year-old man, suffered injuries to his face after he was physically assaulted by the other man who then left the scene with another woman and a child.

“Police are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry and officers encourage anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any relevant information such as CCTV or mobile footage which could aid the investigation to come forward.

“Reports can be made online, or by calling 101 quoting serial 874 of 30/07.”

With so many cafes coming into the area, this was bound to happen.
