A man from Hove has been charged with 10 offences after a car chase through Brighton.
Sussex Police said: “On Monday 31 August, officers in Hollingdean Road, Brighton, spotted a car that had failed to stop for police the previous day.
“A police pursuit was initiated after the car again failed to stop, with it continuing at high speed up Bear Road towards Brighton Racecourse.
“The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. He was seen running towards Whitehawk, prompting a foot pursuit.
“Despite a search of the area, the suspect was not located at this time.
“During a search of the car, officers discovered and seized class A and class B drugs.
“Inquiries took place to establish the driver’s identity, leading to the arrest of a 22-year-old man on Thursday 3 September on suspicion of his involvement.”
On Saturday 5 September, Theo Van Der Vlugt, 22, of Osborne Villas, Hove, formerly of Washington Street, Brighton, was charged with 10 offences
- two counts of having cannabis
- being concerned in the supply of heroin
- being concerned in the supply of cocaine
- having heroin with intent to supply
- having cocaine with intent to supply
- using a motor vehicle on the road other than in accordance with a licence
- dangerous driving
- driving without insurance
- obstructing or resisting a constable in the execution of duty
Van Der Vlugt appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on the same day to answer the charges.
He was remanded in custody until his next hearing on Friday 2 October at Lewes Crown Court.
