Fabian Hürzeler called for humility and continued focus on the basics as Brighton and Hove Albion prepare to host Arsenal fresh from their remarkable Carabao Cup comeback at Manchester United.
The Seagulls became the first team since 1976 to overturn a two-goal deficit to win at Old Trafford as substitute Maxim De Cuyper completed a thrilling and thoroughly deserved 3-2 victory.
Albion boss Hürzeler said that belief was key to the turnaround last night (Wednesday 16 September).
But he is not getting ahead of himself as the Premier League champions – unbeaten in their first four games – head to the Amex on Saturday (19 September).
He said: “We have to stay very, very humble now and get an understanding why we are in the place where we are.
“It’s about doing the basic things right and doing the small margins right and therefore it’s so important that we keep this in our mind.
“That we stay humble, that we don’t take these things for granted, that we step into the game and understand ‘ok, it’s hard work again’.
“It’s hard, hard work. It’s doing the basic things right and then we can grow into the game.
“And then we also know – and then we come back to the belief (aspect) – that we are a good football team.”
