One of the UK’s longest-standing and most engaging comedians is due to come to Brighton and Hove, not once but twice as part of his tour.
Celebrating 40 years of being a stand-up comedian, this tour promises to be ‘more mucking about’ and ‘more having fun and upsetting the right people’. This is something Mark prides himself on, though his career is littered with accolades and a fair few noteworthy events.
Mark Thomas is a British comedian, writer, broadcaster and political campaigner known for combining stand-up comedy with investigative journalism and activism. He began performing comedy in the 1980s and became widely known through television and radio, including appearances on The Mark Thomas Comedy Product and Mark Thomas Presents. His comedy often explores politics, war, human rights and social justice. Thomas has also produced documentaries and written several books, using humour to investigate controversial subjects and challenge authority.
As always, his shows encourage us to recognise the absurd in everyday life, particularly when we think about what the people we put in power do and how they celebrate their own successes. The dialogue always makes you think, but when you add in his trademark unpredictability, it makes you laugh too.
