A former council boss has denied setting three fires and burgling his elderly mother-in-law’s home.
Terry Bridgewater, 47, appeared at Lewes Crown Court today for a plea hearing in relation to the two offences, one of arson with intent to endanger life and the other of burglary.
No plea was entered today, and the case was relisted for next month for mention.
The court was told the arson charge related to three separate fires being set. The indictment says the alleged offence happened at Manhattan Court in Tongdean Lane in May 2018.
The alleged burglary happened at an address in Rotherfield Close on 13 September last year.
Bridgewater, of Saunders Hill, Brighton, was released on conditional bail by Judge Stephen Mooney ahead of the next hearing, which he is not required to attend.
The former Cityclean manager no longer works for Brighton and Hove City Council. He was a manager at the Hollingdean depot at the time of the alleged burglary, but not the alleged arson.
