£10k reward offered as police hunt fatal crash driver with Brighton links

Mohammad Rasauli

A £10,000 reward is on offer as police hunt a driver with links to Brighton who is wanted after a fatal crash.

The reward has been offered by Crimestoppers as Sussex Police try to track down 22-year-old Mohammed Rasauli, also known as Hama after 20-year-old hairdresser Amber Street died in the smash in July.

Separately, a warrant has been issued for Rasauli’s arrest, not backed for bail, after he failed to appear in the crown court charged with two violent offences in Brighton.

Rasauli is charged with violent disorder and with wounding Niaz Khasraw Mohammed with intent to do him grievous bodily harm (GBH). Both offences were alleged to have happened in Brighton two years ago.

The warrant was issued in August for breach of bail after Rasauli failed to turn up for a court hearing after the fatal crash. His bail had been conditional.

The conditions included a ban on going to Bolney Road, Brighton, and he was also banned from contacting Niaz Khasraw Mohammed and Riley Gunn directly or indirectly.

The bail conditions also included surrendering his passport, if he had one, and not applying for international travel documents.

He was also ordered to live and sleep each night at Clydesdale Court, in Old Bottle Way, Fontwell.

Crimestoppers said that the charity was “appealing for information to help find a man wanted in connection with the death of 20-year-old hairdresser Amber Street, who died following a three-vehicle collision on the A27 near Arundel”.

It said: “The charity is offering a reward of up to £10,000 for information given directly and exclusively to Crimestoppers that leads to the arrest of Mohammed Rasauli who is wanted on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

“Rasauli has been placed on Crimestoppers’ ‘Most Wanted’ gallery.

“Amber, from Sidlesham, West Sussex, was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved in the crash, which happened at around 11.15 pm on Wednesday 15 July. Three other people were injured.

“Almost two months on, the suspect has still not been traced. It is believed he has connections who may be able to provide him with accommodation, travel and financial support, helping him to stay hidden.”

Crimestoppers said that Rasauli had links to Brighton, to West Sussex, to London and to Birmingham – but he could also be abroad.

The charity added: “Amber’s family continue to live with the devastating impact of her death and are understandably frustrated.”

Crimestoppers regional manager Annabelle Goodenough said: “Amber was a much-loved daughter and friend whose life was cut short in the most tragic of circumstances.

“Her family have shown incredible strength, but nearly two months on, they are still waiting for the person responsible to be found.

“Somebody, somewhere, knows where Mohammed Rasauli is. Perhaps you’ve heard him mentioned, seen him staying somewhere he shouldn’t be or know someone who has helped him keep out of sight.

“You can tell our charity what you know, 100 per cent anonymously, and that information could be the missing piece that finally brings him to justice.”

Miss Street’s parents, Emily Barr and Ben Street, said: “Every morning, we wake up with the indescribable pain of losing Amber so young and so suddenly.

“Not a second goes by when we aren’t grieving the loss of our kind, funny, beautiful girl. Our lives will never be the same again.

Amber Street

“The devastation and the reality of what has been taken from us will never leave but bringing justice for Amber will give some sense of peace in the face of this devastation.

“We know there are people out there who have information and we are asking you to search your conscience and come forward – even the smallest detail could help to bring some closure for Amber’s loved ones.

“If you know something and have stayed silent, please think about the impact that silence has on our family.

“We understand it may feel difficult to speak up but you can do so completely anonymously through Crimestoppers. Our family is living with the unimaginable pain of losing someone we loved beyond words.

“We are urging anyone who knows anything, no matter how small it may seem, to do the right thing and come forward.”

Crimestoppers, which is independent of the police, is supporting the investigation by offering a reward of up to £10,000 for information that leads to the arrest of Mohammed Rasauli.

The information must be given to the charity exclusively and directly – either online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555111 at any time. The reward is available for three months.

Crimestoppers said: “To pass on what you know anonymously – or to be eligible for a reward – please complete a safe and secure online form at Crimestoppers-uk.org or call the charity’s UK Contact Centre on 0800 555111.

“No one will ever know you contacted Crimestoppers. With Fearless.org and Crimestoppers-uk.org, computer IP addresses are never traced.

“For telephone calls to the independent charity’s UK Contact Centre, there is no ID and no 1471 facility. You will stay 100 per cent anonymous. Always.

“This means no police, no courts, no witness statements. You may think your information is insignificant. However, it could make all the difference.

“The reward will only be payable for information passed directly to Crimestoppers and not to the police.

“A reward code must be asked for when calling us on 0800 555111. If you contact our charity via our online form anonymously, the ‘Keep in contact’ facility must be used and a reward code must be requested on your initial contact with us.”
