The trial of two men accused of a Brighton murder is under way after the jury was sworn in at Lewes Crown Court today (Monday 9 March).
Francesco D’Agostino, 44, and Giuseppe Petriccione, 45, both of Stafford Road, Brighton, are charged with the murder of a 21-year-old Albanian man Serxhio Marku.
Judge Christine Laing, the honorary recorder of Brighton and Hove, sent the jury home until tomorrow morning when barrister Alan Kent is due to outline the case for the prosecution.
The two defendants, who are both kitchen workers from Italy, are accused of murdering Mr Marku in Stafford Road, Brighton, in the early hours of Wednesday 11 September last year.
The trial is expected to last three to four weeks although, with interpreters also sworn in today, the resident judge said that the case could take slightly longer.
D’Agostino and Petriccione both deny murder.
