Brighton & Hove Albion – Early Birds!

By Tim Hodges from the Amex press briefing

The Albion team coach left the Amex Stadium some time before 9am today en route to Wrexham, for the club’s first FA Cup 3rd round replay in 25 years.

And only the second since the infamous night at St James’ Park in 1983 when referee Trefold Mills disallowed two late Toon goals, ensuring Peter Ward’s winner sent Albion on their way to Wembley.

Peter Brezovan revealed that his wife gave birth not long after the first match with Wrexham and that his sleep isn’t being too disrupted.

Brezovan appears to be really enjoying his time as Albion’s current number one.

The keeper felt that the Albion could have a hard match tomorrow night, even saying he thought that Wrexham had played better last time than Saturday’s opponents Bristol City.

Commenting briefly on trialist David Gonzalez, Brezovan said the fact that another keeper had joined the ranks made himself and Casper Ankergren work even harder to maintain their positions within the squad.

But he will take his opportunity to stay at number one as long as he can.

The keeper also revealed that, in making his last-minute save against Wrexham which ensured the replay and the potential of a visit from Newcastle United, he got a kick in the leg from which was still a bit sore.

Brez finished by saying that he was not a big fan of long coach journeys to away games but sadly it was not up to him when the team travelled.

Albion team news for the match at Wrexham will be available here at Brighton and Hove News in the run-up to the kick-off.
