Emergency repairs on A27 to delay Brighton fans and commuters

Commuters and Brighton and Hove Albion fans face delays on the A27 this evening (Tuesday 27 November).

The hold ups, which also affected commuters this morning, are being caused by emergency repairs to the road barrier in the Coldean area.

Sussex Police urged Seagulls fans to set off early for the home match against Bristol City this evening.

Another crowd of about 26,000 is expected at the Amex Community Stadium at Falmer.

Work on the barrier on the eastbound side of the road, just west of the Sussex University campus, is expected to be completed by 8am tomorrow.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Brighton and Hove Albion are playing at home against Bristol City at the American Express Community Stadium from 7.45pm tonight.

“The emergency repairs are likely to cause delays to traffic in the area and we would suggest fans travelling to the game from the west of the county allow extra time for their journey so they don’t miss any of the action.”
