Detectives are seeking witnesses to an early morning attack on a man in Brighton in which the top of his right ear was bitten off.
Between 4am and 5am on Sunday 25 July, the 23-year-old Crawley man was with three friends in Madeira Drive, Brighton, when he was approached by a group of about 10 men who asked him for a fight on the beach.
The victim declined and was then grabbed from behind and pushed onto a nearby car.
He then felt immense pain to his right ear, and the top of his ear was bitten off.
One of the offenders is described as being of mixed race, aged 20 to 25, with short dark hair, 6ft tall and of an athletic build. Descriptions of the others are not available
The victim went to Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, for treatment and then went home, facing further local hospital treatment and then informing police on Friday 30 July.
Detective Constable Laura Carron, of Sussex Police, said: “This was vicious attack without any apparent motive except to inflict injury, and even though it happened some days ago there may well have been other people in the seafront area on that weekend early morning.
