The brother of the prime suspect in the Hove murder case has been arrested after returning to Britain yesterday (Sunday 26 May).
Albert Nela, 34, an Albanian living Brighton, is in custody for questioning by detectives investigating the murder of Xhem Krasniqi, 31, an Albanian scaffolder from Strood in Kent. Nela was arrested at Gatwick Airport.
Detectives believe that his brother Edmund Nela, 30, fired the shot that killed Mr Krasniqi, a father of two children.
Mr Krasniqi, who used to work in Brighton, died from a single bullet after being shot in Church Road, Hove, on Saturday 18 May.
He was in the area visiting relatives when he and his brother and nephew came under fire.
Sussex Police said: “A 34-year-old man from Brighton has been arrested for conspiracy to murder following the fatal shooting of Xhem Krasniqi in Hove on Saturday 18 May.
“The man was arrested as he flew back into Gatwick Airport at 5.10pm on Sunday 26 May.
“He remains in custody for questioning.”
Detectives are still trying to trace Edmund Nela.
