The Beekeeper of Aleppo comes to Theatre Royal Brighton for final tour stop

Beekeeper Of Aleppo at Theatre Royal, Brighton

Preview – The Beekeeper of Aleppo, Theatre Royal Brighton

A stage adaptation of Christy Lefteri’s bestselling novel The Beekeeper of Aleppo will be performed at Theatre Royal, Brighton from Tuesday 9 to Saturday 13 June 2026, marking the final stop of its UK tour.

Presented by UK Productions Ltd in association with Nottingham Playhouse, the production is adapted for the stage by Nesrin Alrefaai and Matthew Spangler, from Lefteri’s internationally acclaimed novel.

The story follows Nuri, a beekeeper, and his wife Afra, an artist, whose lives in Aleppo are shattered by war. Forced to flee Syria, they undertake a perilous journey through Europe while carrying the weight of personal loss and trauma. At its core, the play explores displacement, resilience and the fragile threads that hold people together in the aftermath of conflict.

The novel won the Aspen Words Literary Prize and was a runner-up for the Dayton Literary Peace Prize, as well as becoming one of The Times bestselling books of 2020. This stage version premiered at Nottingham Playhouse in 2023 before touring nationally.

The production is directed by Anthony Almeida, with original direction by Miranda Cromwell.

The cast includes Adam Sina as Nuri and Farah Saffari as Afra. They are joined by Joseph Long, Aram Mardourian, Alia Lahlou, Princess Khumalo, Dona Atallah, Mohsen Ghaffari and Helena Massoud in a multi-rolling ensemble.
