Brighton and Hove Albion have signed midfielder Matias Orozco, the 18-year-old captain of Colombia’s Under-20 national side.
Orozco has joined Brighton from Deportivo Cali on a five-year contract in a deal reported to be worth £3.5 million.
Albion said: “We are pleased to confirm the signing of Matias Orozco from Deportivo Cali on a five-year contract for undisclosed terms, subject to the completion of the usual regulatory processes.”
Sporting director Mike Cave said: “We have identified Matias as an exciting young talent who we’re really pleased to bring to the club.
“He has already got good experience in Colombia and we will now place him with a club on loan for the 2026-27 season so he can continue his development.
“We’re looking forward to working with him and to helping him reach his potential.”
Albion added: “The 18-year-old midfielder broke into Cali’s team last season and made 24 appearances in the Colombian premier league, having moved into their senior squad at the age of 16.
“Matias has won two caps for Colombia’s U20s and is captain of the team.”
