Two men have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft after a shop in Brighton was ramraided in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday 3 September).

Sussex Police said that officers were called to Ship Street at 12.55am to a report that a clothes shop had been rammed with a car.

One man was seen running away south along Ship Street and into The Lanes.

Two other men got into a car and rammed a police vehicle which arrived on the scene as they were trying to get away.

The car was followed. Two men jumped out in Portland Place in Kemp Town and were arrested near by in Eastern Road.

Detective Sergeant Ari Giles said: “We are appealing to anyone who saw what happened and can help us with our inquiries.

“We are still searching for a third suspect who was last seen running into The Lanes.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Sussex Police on 101.

A 26-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of theft and a 30-year-old man from Portslade was arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft and having class B drugs.

They remain in custody.
