Fresh appeal in Kemp Town gang sex attack investigation

Did you see two men speaking to a woman sitting on the pavement outside Legends nightclub in Brighton?

Shortly after midnight the 45-year-old woman was seen sitting outside the club in Marine Parade when she was approached by two men.

All three people then walked away from the club east along Marine Parade

The woman was later attacked and robbed by a gang of men who cornered her somewhere in Kemp Town.

As she walked she turned into a road that was a dead end and heard voices behind her. Four men then attacked her, dragged her to the floor and sexually assaulted her.

The victim tried to fight them off but they took her bag and fled. The woman then flagged down a police van in East Street.

Officers from Sussex Police are keen to speak to the two men who met the woman outside Legends to see if they can help them work out where the victim went next.

The first man who spoke to the victim was white, of average build and in his early 30s with short dark hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a white shirt and a dark zip-up jacket and was carrying a Sainsbury’s bag.

The second man was white, of average build and in his early 30s. He was wearing dark clothing and possibly trainers.

Detective Constable Kerri Bartup said: “There is no suggestion that either of these two men were involved in the attack but they may be able to help us narrow down where it happened and at exactly what time.

“The victim had become lost when she was attacked so any piece of information that can give us more detail about where it happened could be crucial.

“If you were one of the men or recognise the descriptions of them please contact us.”

All of the attackers were white, aged 17 to 23 and wearing jeans and trainers.

The first man was 5′ 4″ to 5′ 6″ and was wearing a dark hooded top.

The second man was 6ft and was wearing a Nike sweatshirt.

The third man was 6ft, had a big nose and was wearing a dark hooded top. The fourth man, who was also 6ft, was wearing a dark hooded top.

Anyone with information is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101, email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
