A 21-year-old man has died after he was hit by a van on the A27 at Falmer.
The man died yesterday (Sunday 6 July) at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
He was hit in the early hours of Saturday (5 July) morning as the Peugeot Partner van was heading towards Lewes.
The driver, a 58-year-old man from Crawley, was unhurt. He has not been arrested.
Sussex Police said: “On Saturday at around 1.15am, emergency services were called to a collision on the eastbound A27 at Falmer between a car and a pedestrian.
“The man was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital but sadly died on Sunday afternoon.”
The victim was an American student at the International Summer School at Sussex University.
PC Kelly Newton said: “We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the pedestrian leading up to it to contact police on 101 or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk.”
