A rapist from Hove has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for attacking a woman.
Alan Tilley, 49, of Sackville Road, Hove, was told yesterday that he must serve at least seven years for the attack.
Tilley followed the woman, 26, before jumping on her as she made her way home after a night out just before Christmas last year.
Tilley forced his victim to the ground in Pembroke Crescent, Hove, but she kicked him off and managed to escape.
He pleaded not guilty to false imprisonment with intent to a commit sexual assault.
His glasses were found at the scene though and CCTV footage showed a man, believed to be Tilley, following the victim through Hove before the attack took place.
A jury at Brighton Crown Court unanimously found him guilty of the charge.
He has previously been convicted of three rapes and a sexual assault.
Detective Chief Inspector Ian Pollard, of Sussex Police, said: “He is a danger to the public and has received a punishment that will keep him off the streets and away from women.
“Thankfully in this case he didn’t carry it though but it was nevertheless still a serious offence and the sentence reflects that.
“He was arrested very quickly.
“We pieced together all the evidence which led to his being charged and following a trial the jury’s verdict was unanimous.”

Many times, until/unless the victim is somebody important i.e. wealthy.
