Brighton & Hove Albion still unbeaten – but Seagulls let two-goal lead slip at Bolton

Bolton Wanderers 2 Brighton & Hove Albion 2

The Seagulls threw away a two-goal lead at the Macron Stadium as Bolton scored a dramatic 95th minute equaliser.

Albion started slowly and goalkeeper David Stockdale was required to make a couple of good saves early on, including one particularly good tip over from Max Clayton.

Bobby Zamora, starting his first Albion match since May 2003, was putting himself about and was instrumental in both Albion’s first-half goals.

Zamora appeared to worry keeper Ben Amos as Jamie Murphy fed Dale Stephens who fired Albion in front with his second of the season.

Then just five minutes later Liam Rosenoir fired in a great cross which was turned home almost on the goal-line by Jamie Murphy to put the Seagulls 2-0 ahead.

But a few minutes later Neil Danns halved the arrears as he swept home a shot from a corner.

But Albion led 2-1 at half time.

Zamora set up a good chance for Sam Baldock early in the second half as Albion looked to resore their two-goal advantage.

Rosenior had a good chance also but this was well saved by Amos.

The game changer was Jamie Murphy’s straight red card for a foul on Neil Danns. After this Albion were under the kosh.

Stockdale made a fine save from Gary Madine as the Trotters pressed the Albion.

But it was the same player who headed past Stockdale with just seconds remaining to make it all square.

Albion stay four points clear at the top from Middlesbrough who play Leeds tomorrow.
