Hove MP Peter Kyle’s concerns over ambulance delays will be brought to the attention of health ministers, he was told in the House of Commons today (Thursday 5 November).
The Labour MP asked the Leader of the Commons Chris Grayling about the issue.
Mr Kyle said: “It transpired that last winter the South East Coast Ambulance Service (Secamb) trialled a new triage system, which put 25,000 patients in danger and could well have led to the loss of life of up to 25 people.
“Will the Leader of the House bring health ministers before us to answer questions about what they knew and when they knew it and ensure that this has not occurred in any other ambulance trust in the country?”
Mr Grayling said: “We share the same ambulance trust and I share the honourable gentleman’s concern.
“The Secretary of State for Health will be here on Tuesday week (17 November) so I would encourage the honourable gentleman to put that point directly to him.
“I will make the relevant ministers aware that this is a matter of concern to members.”
The trust, which provides the NHS ambulance service in Brighton and Hove, also serves the South West Surrey constituency represented by Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt.
