Brighton looks likely to be the new home of the NHS regional deanery.
The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery is currently based near Guy’s Hospital, close to London Bridge, in Central London.
It is expected to be hosted by Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Eastern Road, Brighton.
The move would bring the deanery much closer to the Brighton and Sussex Medical School, which the trust runs jointly with the University of Sussex and the University of Brighton.
The deanery co-ordinates the delivery and funding of postgraduate medical and dental education in Brighton and Hove and the rest of Sussex and in Kent and Surrey.
The move is subject to approval by the board of the South East Coast Strategic Health Authority and would take effect from April.
Will they move into St. Mary’s – the lovely old school near the RSCH which the hospital has just acquired?
