Firefighters put out a blaze in the kitchen of a second-floor flat in Brighton on Thursday night (1 December) which was started by a fridge freezer.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 9.38pm two appliances from Brighton were sent to Carlton Place, in Brighton, where firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled a second-floor kitchen fire, using one hose reel.
“Transco was requested to attend after a smell of gas was reported emitting from the property.
“A positive pressure ventilation fan was used at the incident and a fire investigation found the cause of the fire to be a fridge freezer.”
Earlier fire crews had tackled a cab ablaze in Elm Grove, Brighton.
They dealt with another couple of incidents involving cars yesterday morning (Friday 2 December).
The fire service said: “At 8.24am Roedean firefighters made a car safe, which was leaking fuel, in Queen’s Park Road, Brighton, using an environmental pack.”
