Brighton woman mistakenly tweeted by Trump urges him to learn more about climate change

Brighton woman mistakenly tweeted by Trump urges him to learn more about climate change

A Brighton woman has been inundated with tweets for the last few hours after US President elect Donald Trump accidentally included her in a tweet intended for his daughter.

Mr Trump was criticising a CNN documentary about his daughter Ivanka Trump, but instead of tagging @IvankaTrump, he tagged @Ivanka, an account belonging to Brighton woman Ivanka Majic.

Since then, Ms Majic has received thousands of replies from people pointing out the mistake. This morning, Ivanka used her unexpected moment in the spotlight to urge the president elect to take more care on Twitter and educate himself about climate change.

@realDonaldTrump @drgoodspine And you're a man with great responsibilities. May I suggest more care on Twitter and more time learning about #climatechange. pic.twitter.com/kBMEGZYtig

— Ivanka Majic (@ivanka) January 17, 2017

Ms Majic, a digital user experience consultant, said: “It’s a bit mad. I don’t sleep with my phone in my bedroom but this morning, my husband Nick, who runs the Bravo awards, saw that he’d received a message from ITV and he thought they wanted to talk to me about the Bravos.

“I went on Twitter and found that I had thousands of mentions in my Twitter stream. There were so many that I couldn’t find the original tweet from Donald Trump.

“There are many things to be worried about with Donald Trump but I can’t talk about them all and I’m only going to have the opportunity for a moment so if I can share something that’s factual and visible then maybe a couple of people might read something that they wouldn’t normally read – it’s worth a try.”

However, this is not the first time Ivanka, who set up her Twitter account in 2007, has been mistaken for her famous namesake. During the election, she received so many tweets from people thinking they were talking to Mr Trump’s daughter she set up an automated reply to them, a Twitterbot, saying “I don’t know about you, but I’m voting for Hillary”.

Ms Majic said: “I get a mixed bag of people thinking that I’m Ivanka Trump and some of them are nice and some of them aren’t nice.

“If anyone’s got any suggestions for a new Twitterbot, I’m open to ideas – but don’t tweet me today because it will get lost!”
