The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has asked prosecutors to decide whether to charge the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne with making a false statement during her election campaign.

The IPCC said today (Tuesday 31 January): “The Independent Police Complaints Commission has completed its investigation into an allegation the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Sussex, Katy Bourne, made a false statement during the 2016 election regarding her expenses while serving as the PCC, and have passed our report to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

“A referral to the CPS is made when the IPCC investigation indicates that a criminal offence may have been committed.

“It does not mean that criminal charges will necessarily follow.

“The CPS will decide whether charges should be brought, based on the test set out in the Code for Crown Prosecutors.”

When the claims were first accepted for investigation by the IPCC, her office said: “The Sussex PCC is aware of the referral.”

The investigation does not centre on financial fraud or dishonesty – the sum claimed is believed to be small – but on whether voters were misled.

Mrs Bourne said: “I am committed to maximum transparency in all public office roles and will welcome the independent assessment of the IPCC.”

Katy Bourne’s position as Sussex PCC has now become untenable.

The IPCC is corrupt to the core. All they do is protect Bent cops and waste public money in doing so. The IPCC use (ex cops – now at IPCC) as fixers. I have witnessed IPCC corruption (from Top down) for the past 10 years. The IPCC conceal, turn a blind-eye to to most compelling evidence just to protect corrupt cops when evidence is availabe… Do not trust the IPCC. IPCC In the news again today (in court) being accused of misleading. today ask them about the Martin McGartland case.
