Youths hunted over threats and violent attempted robberies in Hove

A man was attacked in a busy Brighton street. Sussex Police urged any witnesses to come forward.

The force said: “Police are appealing for witnesses to an unprovoked late-night assault on a man in North Street, Brighton.

“Between 11.40pm and midnight on Friday 10 February, the 56-year old local man was walking home on the north side of North Street, just outside the Chapel Royal Church, when he was attacked by a another man who punched him to the side of the head causing bruising and pain in the area of his cheekbone.

“The offender then ran away screaming and shouting. He is described as white, aged 18 to 22, wearing a blue hooded top.

“Nothing was stolen.”

Investigator Simon French said: “This unprovoked attack was witnessed by around 10 people but nobody came forward to help – and it is possible that some were friends of the offender.

“We ask anyone who saw what happened or has any other information to contact us via 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 385 of 13/02.

“You can also report online to https://sussex.police.uk/contact-us/response-to-appeal or call 101.”
