Manager of Brighton and Hove Albion’s women team dismissed after allegations

Three Brighton and Hove Albion players have signed new long-term contracts with the club.

Lewis Dunk, Shane Duffy and Anthony Knockaert have committed their futures to the club, Albion said this morning (Thursday 17 August).

The club said: “Dunk and Knockaert have signed new five-year contracts with Albion through until June 2022 and Duffy a four-year term until 2021.”

Seagulls manager Chris Hughton said: “The new deals are thoroughly deserved.

“Lewis, Shane and Anthony were key members of our promotion-winning side last season and I fully expect them to be important members of the team once again this season.

“They’re relishing the step up to the new level and they each have the capability to perform and excel in the Premier League – and they have certainly earned these new deals with their performances on the pitch.

“It’s been a really straightforward process getting everything completed and I’m absolutely delighted that three key members of the squad have committed their futures to the Albion.”

The club said: “Dunk, the longest-serving member of Albion’s squad, made his first-team debut in 2011 and the new deal will see him complete more than a decade of service as a professional with the club.

“Aside from a brief three-game loan spell with Bristol City in 2013, he’s played the majority of almost 200 senior games with Albion – having graduated through the club’s centre of excellence – and helped Albion rise from League One to the Premier League in his time.

“Duffy became Albion’s record signing last summer and the Irish international went on to form a formidable partnership at the heart of Albion’s defence alongside Dunk, which was the bedrock for the club’s promotion.

“Reigning Player of the Season Anthony Knockaert joined from Standard Liege in January 2016 and has proved a constant thorn in the side of opposing defences.

“In 65 league games for Albion he’s hit 20 goals, provided countless assists and proved a huge favourite with the club’s fans.”
