Albion’s hero was goalkeeper Maty Ryan as he made brilliant saves from Issac Hayden and Dwight Gayle.
Pascal Gross and Davy Propper both had half chances to nick all the points for the Seagulls.
Albion next face Bournemouth in huge clash at the Amex on New Year’s Day at 12.30pm.
The Cherries are now just two places and two points behind the Seagulls.
