A Brighton MP has promised to raise concerns about plans to build a helipad in Kemp Town.
Simon Kirby, the Conservative MP for Brighton Kemptown, said that worried constituents had contacted him about the proposal.
It would allow air ambulances to land at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Eastern Road, Brighton.
Mr Kirby said: “While I welcome the investment in health facilities in the area, it is important that the views of existing local residents are taken into consideration and listened to at every stage of the process.
“I am working hard to ensure that everyone involved with this project is aware of residents’ opinions.”
He said that he had already passed on concerns relating to parking, the possible loss of existing architecture and the impact on local roads to Duncan Selbie, the hospital’s chief executive.
Mr Kirby said: “I have also been approached by people who are concerned about the current proposals for a helipad and I shall be raising this issue at my next meeting with the chief executive.”
This 2 acre site is already ridiculously overdeveloped and over the last 15 years it has become a very stressed out hospital.
ANY serious hospital development should be taking place on the Nevill Road site originally earmarked for a major hospital complex, in Hove. Why is nothing being done to use that site better???????????????????????????????????
