A family cut off by the rising tide at Saltdean was rescued by the crew of the Brighton Lifeboat this lunchtime.
Brighton RNLI and Newhaven Coastguard were called to the stranded father, child and dog at 12.30pm, on the hottest day of the year so far.
Once there, a crewman swam from the lifeboat to the shore to check the family was okay, and then assisted them to get back onto the promenade.
Jade Cohen, Brighton RNLI spokeswoman, said: “Brighton lifeboat was tasked at 12.30pm following a 999 call from a concerned member of the public who could see the family being cut off by the tide just east of Saltdean beach.
“A father, his little girl who was about three years old, and their dog were stranded on the rocks with the tide rising.
“Our helmsman made the decision to send one of our volunteer crew ashore as the rocks under the water meant the boat wouldn’t be able to reach the shore.
“Once our member was ashore, he was assisted by Newhaven Coastguard shore team and they negotiated the family around the rocks and back onto the promenade.
“Our advice to families is to check the tide times when they go onto the beach.”
