Brighton and Hove voters asked for election day ideas

Voters across Brighton and Hove are being asked to say whether polling stations are in the right place and up to the job.

Election organisers want to know, in particular, whether voting could be easier at polling stations for people with disabilities.

Brighton and Hove City Council said that it used 116 polling stations at the most recent elections in May and reviewed them every four years.

The review is timely given the local elections due to be held next May.

The council said: “From this week, residents can give their views on existing polling stations and tell the council about any problems that arose for them during previous elections.

“Electors can also suggest new or alternative polling places with reasons why these would improve access to voting in their area.

“There are currently 116 polling places in Brighton and Hove, including some unusual ones, for instance, West Blatchington Windmill and the estate office at the Marina.

“Now it’s your turn to tell the council how it can make your polling place better or easier to use.

“The council monitors facilities during elections, so has a good idea where voters have had difficulties, but is particularly keen to make sure people with disabilities are able to vote.

“Following the experience of previous elections, the council has indicated the polling stations where changes could be made, from improving access, lighting and signage to finding alternatives to schools so as not to disrupt children’s education.”

The closing date for comments is Friday 31 December.

After the review a report will go before the council’s governance committee in February for a decision on any changes.

We need to win big to defeat the cheating we’ve already found out about. It’s not new but that which is new is that were vigilant and are learning concerning this now instead of a couple of months from now. the bank exposed for the cheaters they may be, just as their damaging campaigning has shown these individuals as liars and devoid of their own ideas. Now is not time to slow down although rather to pile it on. It is some time to leave no doubt in respect of where the American persons stand.
