A would-be armed robber fled empty-handed after being thwarted when he tried to hold up a shop in Brighton.
The attempted robbery happened at the Premier Morris Store, in Widdicombe Way, Moulsecoomb, on Thursday 2 April.
Today (Friday 1 May), Sussex Police released security camera pictures of the suspect as work continued to identify and arrest the man.
The force said: “Police are working to identify the man in these images after an attempted robbery was reported at a Moulsecoomb shop.
“On Thursday 2 April just after 7am, a man entered the Premier Morris Store, in Widdicombe Way, and was reported to have demanded money while in possession of a weapon.
“Despite his attempts, he left the premises empty-handed and fled downhill in Widdicombe Way.
“A woman in her sixties suffered minor injuries during the incident.
“The man is described as around 5ft 7in, wearing a black balaclava, a light grey jumper, black bottoms and black trainers
“He was also wearing a tan jacket with a red logo on the back right shoulder.”
Sussex Police said that, although much of his face was covered in the pictures, officers urged anyone who thought that they recognised the man to get in touch.
The force also asked for any witnesses or anyone with relevant footage or information to come forward.
The police can be contacted online or by calling 101, quoting reference 209 of 02/04.

So much for facial recognition lool, I’m from moulscoombe and can say I’ve not seen he’s face before so must be an outsider us lot stick together when it comes to it.
Most criminals in Brighton are outsiders now! From outside of the country!
Do you have the stats to support Farage-adjacent assertion..?
Surely the shop worker had a duty of care to tell the vulnerable young person that his shoelace was undone & that he could trip over in the shop if he were to run?
