Police have bailed a 21-year-old man from Hove after a postman was injured in a hit and run incident.

The man is suspected of being the driver of a Volvo estate car which ploughed into the postman in Widdicombe Way, Moulsecoomb, just after 11.30am on Saturday (19 March).

The postman, 36, from Lancing, suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.

He is still being treated there and his condition was described as serious but not life-threatening.

The suspect has been released on bail until Tuesday 12 April.

He handed himself in at Brighton Police Station in John Street on Saturday where he was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

Sussex Police urged any witnesses to call 0845 6070999.

Er, we do NOT live in Moulsecoomb, we live in Higher Bevendean. Widdicombe Way, and it does matter because sadly Moulsecoomb still has a bad rep. I like the idea of a local news site, well done. If I pick up an interesting story I will let you know, was a journalist for many years in previous career. Did you know that there’s an open meeting in the old Bevendean pub – where the accident reported above took place – on Saturday because it has been purchased as a community building?
