One police officer was taken to hospital with minor injuries after a crash at a busy junction in Hove.
Sussex Police said that two vehicles were involved in the accident at the junction of Old Shoreham Road and Goldstone Crescent at the south eastern corner of Hove Park.
The accident happened at just after 7pm this evening.
The police officer was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with minor injuries. The member of the public was said to have been unhurt.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service attended to deal with fuel leaking from the police car, which appears to be a write off.
An investigation by the Sussex Police Road Policing Unit is under way.
